Kim Everett Ganong

Kim Everett Ganong is a recent, but very happy transplant to Boise. As a local freelance oboist, she has performed with groups including guest principal with the Boise Phil, Opera Idaho, Boise Baroque, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and the Gene Harris Jazz Festival.

Dr. Ganong enjoys working with local students as a private teacher, and in sectionals at Treasure Valley schools and programs like the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Kim recently performed as a guest soloist with the Boise High Wind Ensemble. Her doctoral essay, “A History and Discography of the Oboe in Jazz,” has been well received in the oboe community, and continues to be an active catalyst for ongoing research.

She received her BFA from CalArts, an MM from NYU, and a DMA from the University of Miami. Kim formerly held the tenured second oboe position in the El Paso Symphony, and for six seasons held the second oboe and solo English horn chair with the Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach Symphony.
